Lightning Strikes

Lightning Strikes was designed for the first round in a  Bicycle Build Off on www.chopperbicycle.net.

It was fabricated using a brand new Schwinn Stingray solely brought for the purpose of being chopped up to build this bike.

We started by first cutting up the Stingray so that we could use the back end of the frame, the front end tube and the crank. We then built a new frame from mild steel tubing and added 8 inches onto the length of the forks.

The bars were a bit of a challenge getting all the angles on the joins right so that they looked like lightning bolts. We split the original Schwinn back fender into 2 pieces.

The hardest part of this bike was the tank, it had to be totally built from scratch and it was a lot of work, but definately worth it. The seat we just re-covered a Stingray seat and hand painted the lightning on it. The frame was painted black fading into purple on the tank with a silver sparkle paint over the top.
